My name is Joe Dantone, and I'm the photographer who took the photographs in these pages. I live in the Texas Hill Country now, although in the past I've traveled over most the western US, taking photos along the way as work and vacations allowed. I'm still taking new photos, but I also go back and digitize the film negatives that I made and stored before they turn into cracked pieces of celluloid.
Along the way, Charlie Russell and Ansel Adams have inspired me more than any other artists. Ansel, simply because he is Ansel. Charlie was a cowboy artist in late 1800's Montana whose work told stories rather than being documentary. I find that their images just appeal to me without my giving them any overt thought.
While I can't always tell a story with an image by myself, I can usually make it appear full of depth, so when you look at it, you see it as if you are standing where I was, looking at a live image rather than one that is flat or two dimensional.
Where I live, there are no level horizons, so my photos don't always have level or square perspectives, but my camera is always square, no matter what.
Images in the 8x12 size range are $199 plus tax, professionally printed and matted. Those in the 16x20 size range are $399 plus tax. Tax is $.0825 in Texas. Shipping is at your expense. The local choices are UPS and Fedex.
Look around, enjoy and decide which one you want to hang on your wall.
